Do you want to become more confident dealing with common fractures typically seen in first opinion practice? This course is an excellent follow on from the Introduction to Orthopaedics course, but is equally suitable as a stand-alone course for vets with basic or intermediate orthopaedic experience. Practical sessions will allow you to become comfortable with basic fracture fixation techniques using plastic bones and models. You’ll then be able to apply the techniques learned in practical cadaver surgery sessions. Guidance from the experienced and approachable tutors will help you gain the confidence to tackle common fractures seen in your practice.
What you’ll learn:
- How to assess your patient
- Fracture assessment and implant selection
- How to apply bone plates and screws
- Decision making and application of external fixators
- Practical experience in approaching and stabilising antebrachial, tibial and femoral fractures
Course Tutor: Jonathan Pink BSc BVetMed CertSAS DipECVS MRCVS
