Come on this interactive one-day course and develop your diagnostic skills for identifying common haematological and cytological abnormalities using your practice microscope. We’ll cover the essential theory in short seminars interspersed with longer hands-on practical sessions. During your practical sessions we’ll use carefully chosen smears from suitable haematology and cytology cases that you’re likely to see in your practice.
What you’ll learn:
- Blood smear; how to prepare, stain and examine
- What is “normal” and what is not: red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
- Cytology of skin lumps and bumps; how to prepare, stain and examine a smear. Inflammation/Infection/Criteria of malignancy
- What is this skin lump or bump: inflammatory, non-neoplastic,neoplastic, benign, or malignant?
