Surgical procedures of the Ear, Nose and Throat are commonly performed in first opinion small animal practice. During this highly practical course, you’ll learn essential theory for effective decision-making, implementation and to put the procedures in context. You’ll practise the surgical techniques under the guidance of highly experienced and approachable tutors in extensive ‘hands-on’ practical wet-lab sessions. Gain the confidence and skills you need to manage your patients effectively.

What you’ll learn:

  • Ear disease and the role of surgery
    • Lateral wall resection technique
    • Total ear canal ablation / lateral bulla osteotomy (TECA/LBO)
  • Management of inflammatory nasopharyngeal and aural polyps
    • Ventral bulla osteotomy (VBO) in the cat
  • Management of Laryngeal paralysis and collapse
    • Cricoarytenoid lateralisation (‘tie-back’ surgery)
    • Emergency tracheostomy tube placement
  • Treatment of stenotic nares
    • Rhinoplasty
  • Diseases of the salivary glands
    • Mandibular and Sub-lingual Sialoadenectomy
