This highly practical Advanced TPLO course will challenge and refine your approach to more demanding cases, combining advanced case planning, complication management and extensive wet-lab training with close guidance from specialist surgeons.
Advanced TPLO
Once you are comfortable performing a standard TPLO, the next challenge is knowing how to adapt your approach when the case becomes more complicated.
This focused two-day course builds on established TPLO skills, concentrating on advanced case selection, surgical planning and the management of challenging patient scenarios. You’ll explore cases involving excessive tibial plateau angles, concurrent patellar luxation, tibial deformity and revision surgery, while refining the precision of your standard TPLO technique.
A major focus of the course will be the recognition, avoidance and management of complications. You’ll consider implant failure, intra- and postoperative fractures and strategies to prevent iatrogenic angular and torsional deformity, developing both the technical skills and clinical judgement needed when things don’t go according to plan.

• Refine TPLO planning and surgical technique to improve accuracy and consistency
• Approach cases with excessive tibial plateau angles
• Plan and manage TPLO in patients with concurrent patellar luxation
• Recognise tibial deformity and understand how this influences surgical planning
• Approach revision TPLO surgery and challenging postoperative cases
• Recognise, avoid and manage common and serious TPLO complications
• Manage implant failure and intra- and postoperative fractures
• Minimise the risk of iatrogenic angular and torsional deformity
• Evaluate surgical outcomes using pre- and postoperative radiographs
• Develop decision-making strategies for complex TPLO cases
Highly practical training
With wet-lab sessions on both days, you’ll have extensive opportunity to refine your technique and work through advanced surgical scenarios. Radiographic planning and postoperative evaluation will be integrated throughout, helping you assess not only how to perform each procedure but also the quality of the surgical outcome.
Small delegate numbers and close faculty supervision provide plenty of opportunity for individual feedback, case discussion and practical guidance.
By the end of the course, you’ll have sharpened your surgical judgement and technical precision and be better equipped to manage the more demanding TPLO cases in your caseload.
