Programme

Session 1

Approach to the feline orthopaedic patient and feline Joint conditions

In the first session, we will focus on initial examination and approach to the feline orthopaedic patient, and we will cover some of the joint disease this species may suffer, such as inflammatory arthritis, congenital, developmental or degenerative pathologies, and nutritional pathologies, among others. We will also cover long term management of degenerative joint disease in this species.

  • Tricks to perform a better orthopaedic examination in cats
  • How to use different diagnostic tools in the investigation of orthopaedic conditions
  • The different types of joint diseases that cats may present with
  • Long term management of patients with chronic conditions and the rehabilitation options we have available for these patients
Session 2

Traumatic injuries in cats –Part 1

In the second session, our attention will be centered on traumatic injuries in cats, such as skull injuries, long bone fractures or luxations. We will discuss the initial management of these patients, the most common traumatic injuries we may be presented with and their management.

  • How to initially manage feline trauma patients
  • Improve their diagnostic skills of traumatic injuries
  • The most common traumatic pathologies, their evaluation and their treatment
Session 3

Traumatic injuries in cats -Part 2

In the third session, we will continue immersing on traumatic injuries in cats, such as pelvic fractures and tail pull injuries, their diagnosis, treatment, postoperative management and potential complications we may encounter.

What you’ll learn:

  • The most adequate postoperative management for feline patients
  • Potential complications we may encounter and how to deal with them
