Programme
Session 1
Assessing the lungs – moving beyond lung pattern recognition
This session compares the traditional schemes of lung pattern assessment (alveolar, bronchial, interstitial and vascular) with alternative approaches to best focus differential lists.
What you’ll learn:
- What is the normal radiographic appearance of the lungfields?
- What are the hallmarks of a bronchial, interstitial and alveolar lung pattern?
- What other features can we use to better distinguish what lung pathology is present?
The cardiovascular system – should I just do an echocardiogram?
This session will focus on the role of radiography in the cardiac patient – assessing if the patient is in cardiac failure; and monitoring for disease progression. It will also discuss findings for assessing cardiac shape and how this is complemented by echocardiography.
What you’ll learn:
- The normal heart shape of different breeds
- What happens to the cardiac shape with pathology?
- What can changes to the pulmonary vasculature tell us about the patient’s disease?
The invisible margins of the thorax – not overlooking non cardiopulmonary thoracic pathology
It is easy to forget about mediastinal and thoracic wall structures, since they can be overlooked if the heart and lungfields are focused on during radiographic review. When abnormal, they can be a cause of significant pathology, and must not be confused with pulmonary disease as they superimpose on the lungfields.
What you’ll learn:
- What structures are in the mediastinum, and what pathology is seen
- Anatomy and pathology of the pleural space
- Pathology of the diaphragm and thoracic wall
The price includes all 3 sessions, notes and quiz – 8 hours of CPD
