Session 1
Surgical treatment of Obstructive disease Part 1
In this first session we will be discussing how to manage a dog or cat with urinary obstructive disease. And how we will remove uroliths from a kidney and what can we do to treat dogs and cats with uroliths in the ureter and bladder.
What you’ll learn:
- The best approach to patients with urinary obstructive disease
- Indications of when to perform a nephrotomy
- What kind of surgery we can do with ureteric obstruction
- Indications of how to place a SUB (subcutaneous ureteric bypass)
- How to manage patients with cystoliths
Surgical treatment of Obstructive disease Part 2
In the second session we would be looking at obstructive disease affecting the urethra in the dog and cat. We will be talking how to manage a case that has suffered a traumatic rupture of the urinary system, being bladder or urethra, as this are the most common places. Following this first hour we will be looking how we manage surgically cases with urinary neoplasia.
What you’ll learn:
- How to manage a dog and cat with bladder uroliths
- How to perform a Scrotal Urethrostomy in dogs
- How to perform a Perineal urethrostomy in cats
- How to manage a patient with urinary trauma
- How to repair a bladder rupture
- How to manage a case with a ruptured urethra
- How to manage a patient with renal tumours. Nephrectomy
- Should we be doing total cystectomies?
Urinary Trauma and Urinary Neoplasia
In the third session we will be looking at the reproductive pathology that affect most commonly at our patients.
What you’ll learn:
- Should we do an ovariectomy or ovariohysterectomy and at what age
- We will briefly discuss the use of laparoscopy in reproductive diseases
- How to treat a vaginal prolapse
- How to perform a penile amputation and manage different penile or preputial pathologies.
