What’s All The Fuss About?
TRaw feeding for pets is a Marmite subject. Those vets and nurses who love it talk about it incessantly. Those who dislike it are at a loss to know why their colleagues advocate ‘risky unbalanced food’.
But both agree it’s on the rise. Some estimates suggest 10-20% of all your clients feed some or all raw meat-based diets to their pets. Therefore we are obliged to at least have a working knowledge of arguments for and against the practice.
We will unpack both sides of the arguments today to allow you to make up your mind.
What you’ll learn:
- Setting the Scene: Passions are High
- Arguments Against Raw and Their Validity
- Arguments For Raw and Their Validity
- Arguments For Kibble and Tins
- Arguments Against Kibble and Tins
- Raw vs Fresh Lightly Cooked Home-Prepared
Raw Feeding: The Basics – Practical Advice for Vet Practices
A crash course in raw food orientation for the vet and vet nurse. Ten short lessons in the basics to put you one step ahead of (most) of your clients.
Starting with safe and practical advice for clients dead-set on going down the raw route. We discuss ingredients, including feeding bones safely. Ensuring a diet is balanced and complete is covered in the lessons. We’ll offer tips on when to feed and how to transition to raw with minimum fuss.
What you’ll learn:
- How to Start
- The Ingredients
- Proportions and Quantities
- Omega-3 Oils
- How and When to Feed and Transitions
Raw Food Therapeutics
Nutrition is essential in health. It is even more so in disease. If it is possible to support and manage common pathologies with diet from a tin or a bag, isn’t it possible with raw food? It is, of course.
We have left ‘nutrition’ to the corporations for so long we’ve forgotten how to feed sick animals. Raw food offers a significant intervention opportunity for vet practices in gut, skin, renal and hepatic disease.
What you’ll learn:
- Why use Raw When We Have Prescription Diets?
- The Thompson Stool Score system
- Raw Food and Dietary Sensitivities/Intolerances
- Raw Food and Diet-Related Dermatoses
- Raw Food and Atopy?
- Raw Food and Kidney Disease
- Raw Food and Liver Disease
The price includes all 3 sessions, notes and quiz – 8 hours of CPD
*No traffic jams, accommodation hassles, pet or childcare, rota clashes, locum fees ……….. just great CPD and a valuable ongoing resource.
Overseas customers will be charged VAT. However we will refund the VAT to you within 3 working days.
