During this miniseries we will discuss practical aspects of the management of emergency presentations of a range of endocrinopathies. The first session will focus on investigation and stabilisation of patients presenting with diabetic ketoacidosis and hyperglycaemic hyperosmolar syndrome. The second will address management of adrenal crises. In the final session we will consider emergency aspects of the management of other endocrinopathies, including phaeochromocytoma, pituitary macroadenoma, insulinoma, thyrotoxicosis, and myxedema coma.

- Pathophysiology of hypoadrenocorticism
- Recognition of adrenal crisis
- Safe correction of fluid, electrolyte and metabolic imbalance.
Other endocrine emergencies
What you’ll learn:
- Emergency presentations of thyroid disorders and their management
- Investigation and management of phaeochromocytoma and pituitary macroadenoma
- Diagnostic approach to, and management of, insulinoma
