A requirement for wound management is commonly encountered in small animal practice with the specifics of the appropriate management steps determined by the nature of the wound and the presentation. An understanding of how tissue heals and the steps that can be taken to optimise this process forms the foundation of successful wound management. This Online miniseries will include a review of the fundamentals of wound assessment and tissue healing in the first session, followed by a detailed overview of considerations for open wound management and surgical wound closure in each of the subsequent sessions. There will be a balance of theory and practical guidance throughout the course with the aim of encouraging you to develop a logical and methodical approach to decision making when managing a variety of wounds.
