Programme

Session 1 – Ocular discharge
Ocular discharge can occur for a variety of reasons and can be a common reason for eye cases presenting in practice. This session will cover approaches to assessing the tear film and tear drainage as well as working through the approach to common cases.
Topics include:
Assessing the tear film beyond the Schirmer tear test
Current options for managing ocular surface disease
How to investigate and manage tear drainage issue
Eyelid conditions that can cause a watery eye including entropion, trichiasis, ectopic cilia with a basic overview of their management


Session 2 – The painful eye
Many ocular and orbital conditions are painful, assessing signs of ocular discomfort and managing pain as well as the underlying condition will be considered via a case-based approach.
Topics include:
Corneal ulceration is it complicated? What to do when an ulcer won’t heal
Exophthalmos – options for investigation in practice
How to approach a painful opaque eye
Treatment options for glaucoma and lens luxation


Session 3 – The blind patient
Sudden onset of blindness can be very emotional for owners, this session will cover approach to assessing vision and how to determine the location of the problem.
Topics include:
Why can’t I see the retina and what should I do next?
Common retinal causes of blindness
Blindness beyond the eye – localising the cause of blindness in a logical way


CPD details
The price includes all three sessions, downloadable notes, quizzes and 8 hours of CPD, with 12 months’ access to the recordings as an ongoing reference.
