What you’ll learn:
- During this lecture we will cover the most usual emergencies involving our paediatric patients as well as discuss the best treatment for these and the main differences between these patients and our adult emergency patients
- Differences between paediatric and adult patients, with focus on emergency presentation
- Most common paediatric emergency presentations
- Treatment of the most common emergenct paediatric emergencies
Session 2
Approach to neurological emergencies
What you’ll learn:
- During this lecture we will cover traumatic brain injury and status epilepticus when presenting in emergency patients, as well as covering the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment options for both these presentations
- Traumatic brain injury in the emergency room: pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment
- Status epilepticus in the emergecy room: pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment
Session 3
Approach to the collapsed patient and treatment of shock
What you’ll learn:
- During this lecture we will discuss the pathophysiology of shock and the different types of shock, as well as discussing in depth the use of intravenous fluid therapy, as well as other treatments for shocked patients such as vasopressors, positive inotropes or colloid use
- Pathophysiology and types of shock
- Intravenous fluid therapy including crystalloids and colloid use
- Use of vasopressors, inotropes and other therapies in shocked patients
