Session 1: Wednesday 9th April 2025   2pm-4pm (UK time)
A Good Foundation- The Juvenile Rabbit

What you’ll learn:

CORE- First contact- diet, vaccination, parasite control, neutering.
NEW THINKING- Updates on anaesthetic techniques, E.cuniculi- where are we now? An introduction to pain scoring- encouraging owners to be objective about their rabbits.

  • How to construct a robust vaccination schedule for both indoor and outdoor rabbits
  • How and when to neuter both male and female rabbits, and how to evaluate their pain levels afterwards
  • The risks of both internal and external parasites, and when/if to treat them, and which products to safely use.
Session 2: Wednesday 23rd April 2025   2pm-4pm (UK time)

Living a Good Life- The Adult Rabbit

What you’ll learn:

CORE Preventive Heath care planning, adapting nutrition to life stage, common health issues caused by poor mobility (urine smudging, hock sores, failure to eat caecotrophs, obesity), diagnostic imaging in rabbits- radiography, dental radiography, computed tomography and ultrasonography.
NEW THINKING- updates on wound care, haemostasis, abscess treatment and dental interventions.

  • How nutritional requirements alter with both age and neutering status, and how to adjust the diet to avoid obesity and nutritional deficiency
  • How to evaluate common problems such as hock sores, and integrate this into formulating a treatment plan, based on a robust synthesis of environmental and diagnostic knowledge as to why an individual rabbit is not moving normally
  • How to interpret thoracic, abdominal, dental radiographs, the fundamentals of CT interpretation and how to obtain useful ultrasonographic images in the rabbit
Session 3: Wednesday 7th May 2025   2pm-4pm (UK time)

Twilight years- Managing the aging rabbit

What you’ll learn:

CORE Analgesia, diagnosis and management of osteoarthritis, diagnosis and management of renal dysfunction, diagnosis and treatment of cardiac dysfunction, managing a disabled rabbit in a welfare driven manner, what is palliative care? Quality of life assessments.
NEW THINKING- new treatment modalities for older diseases- renal and cardiac disease in particular.

  • The importance of analgesia in many of our older patients – a recap on pain scoring will be added
  • That aging is a series of diagnoses, which if made, and treated, can significantly imp[rove the welfare of many older rabbits
  • Current thinking surrounding palliative care and quality of life assessments
