Skin and ear disease is the most commonly diagnosed condition seen in general practice. This mini-series will help give nurses the confidence in being utilised in working up itching dogs. We will cover, common parasites, testing for them and the most effective treatments that are available. Secondary bacterial and fungal dermatitis and otitis, how to test for them, what treatments are suitable and what can be initiated by the nurses. Diet trials, what diets we use, how we perform them and how to investigate potential food allergies and finally looking at atopic dermatitis in dogs, so environmental allergies and how this is diagnosed, worked-up and managed, including what nurses can get involved in and how we can be effectively utilised in managing these patients with atopic dermatitis in the clinic.
