Programme
Session 1: Monday 5th May 2025 2pm-4pm (UK time)
The physics of ultrasound, echo machines and how to use them
In this foundational session, participants will explore the underlying physics of echocardiography. We’ll discuss the underlying ultrasound principles to gain understanding about image acquisition. Practical techniques for effective utilisation of these machines will be emphasised, ensuring participants are well-prepared for clinical applications.
What you’ll learn:
- Understanding the physics behind echocardiography
- Familiarising with different echo machines and their features
- Learning practical skills for using echo machines effectively
Scanning: how to get nice images, how to measure them and common artefacts
Attendees will learn essential scanning techniques to acquire high-quality cardiac images. We’ll cover image optimization, measurement methods for cardiac structures, and strategies to obtain accurate measurements. Additionally, we’ll address common artefacts encountered during echocardiography, equipping participants with the skills to troubleshoot and enhance image quality.
What you’ll learn:
- Mastering scanning techniques to obtain high-quality cardiac images
- Understanding how to obtain reliable measurement methods for cardiac structures
- Identifying and managing common artefacts in echocardiography
Common cardiac diseases in dogs and cats
Focusing on clinical relevance, we will explores prevalent cardiac diseases of dogs and cats. Participants will gain insights into diagnostic criteria and echocardiographic appearance of the most commonly encountered cardiovascular diseases. Real-world case studies will illustrate the application of echocardiography in diagnosing and managing cardiac conditions in dogs and cats.
What you’ll learn:
- Recognizing common cardiac diseases in dogs and cats
- Learning diagnostic criteria and treatment approaches
- Applying knowledge to clinical cases for better management of cardiac patients
The price includes all 3 sessions, notes and quiz – 8 hours of CPD
