Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA)
This session will cover the history of the TTA procedure and investigate how the procedure has evolved over the last 10 or so years since it was introduced in the early 2000s. We will cover the basic steps of doing a TTA using a simple forked and screwed system. We will consider the surgical challenges and decision making that the procedure demands. We will use current evidence based medicine to guide us. We will cover the many variations on the original TTA procedure, and consider the various advantages and disadvantages of each. We will also consider complications of TTA surgery, how to minimise the chances of them happening, and how to deal with them if they do happen.
What you’ll learn:
- The history and evolution of the TTA procedure
- TTA step-by-step using a simple forked and screwed system
- Decision-making with surgical challenges
- Evidence-based medicine
- Advantages and disadvantages of TTA variations
- Surgical complications – how to minimise them and how to deal with them
Tibial Plateau Levelling Surgery (TPLO)
This session will cover the history of the TPLO procedure and investigate how the procedure has evolved over the last 30 years since it was introduced in the 1980s. We will cover the basic steps of doing a TPLO using a locking plate system, and consider the surgical challenges and decision making that the procedure demands. We will use current evidence based medicine to guide us. We will also consider complications of TTA surgery, how to minimise the chances of them happening, and how to deal with them if they do happen.
What you’ll learn:
- The history and evolution of the TPLO procedure
- TPLO step-by-step using a locking plate system
- Decision-making with surgical challenges

Course Feedback :
“TPLO is the technique of choice and I have a good grounding now to go and learn the procedure.”
“At the moment I am doing TTAs and I was thinking for some time about the transition to TPLO. This course will help me to put together the evidence to support that transition.”
“This course was very informative, really enjoyed Gareth’s insight, liked the articles’ presentation very much. ”
